Dear All,

You have about one more month to submit and participate in a great opportunity to  have your work or outfit exhibited at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens.

I have a request for my tomodachi in Japan, those who have lived there, and to fellow JET Alumni or current JETs to ask for your assistance.

My name is Wendy Lo and I am the Adult Education Program Coordinator at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens located in Delray Beach, Florida.

I am also a JET Alumni who was based in Toyama-ken, Toyama-shi from 2002 to 2005.

We are asking for submissions of photographs of contemporary Japanese street fashion in Japan to include in our exhibition on Contemporary Japanese Street Fashion. This exhibit will be displayed in conjunction with our other exhibit, on Japanese Contemporary Art sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to appear at the Morikami Museum from Oct. 1, 2013 to February 23, 2014. Both exhibits on contemporary fashion and art will be a great look into Japanese culture and society these past 15 years.

Your images of street fashion should range from what is trending among the young people today in Japan, to certain styles you captured on camera such as gyaru, hime- gyaru, ko-gal, yankee, EGL, Lolita, wa-loli, decora, ganguro, visual kei, Senta-gai, mori-girl, kigurumin, manba, or even the rockabillies dancing away to the “Twist” in Yoyogi Park  in Tokyo.

Some of the styles I mentioned might not be as popular anymore among youth in Japan, but if you captured it , we want it!

If your photo(s) is/are selected, you will be credited.

Here is your chance to be have your photo exhibited in an exhibition at our museum!!
