The Tampa Area Regional Representative hosts a Japanese conversation practice club (known as a tsudoi) the first Friday of every month starting at 7:00 PM.

Starting February 1, the location will be changing to the Panera Bread at 11860 Bruce B Downs Blvd in Tampa (just outside University of South Florida).

For more details, please email tampa@floridajetaa.org. This event is free and open to anyone in the community, whether affiliated with JET or studying Japanese formally or informally (or if a native speaker).

Life after the BOEThe Miami JET interviews are scheduled to take place from February 19-22 and 25. The JET Program office is looking for JET alumni to work as greeters for full-day shifts during these days. Job duties will largely entail checking in interviewees, collecting paperwork, and answering questions/sharing stories with prospective JETs. Lunch, parking costs, and a $50 remuneration are included. JET alumni reapplying for participation in the 2013 year are not eligible to volunteer.

To sign up, please email jet@mi.mofa.go.jp.

AJET logoThe National AJET Council would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to answer this survey for JET alumni by Jan. 25. The survey results will help direct the discussion between JETs and CLAIR at the Spring Opinion Exchange. It takes about 5 minutes max. Yoroshiku!

It’s election season! Our board members serve 2-year terms, and several of them will be up this year. The open positions are president, vice president, information officer, and webmaster (read position descriptions here).

If interested in any of these positions, please send a brief platform statement (roughly about 100-200 words) introducing yourself and explaining why you want to hold this position. These bios will be used to introduce you to Florida JETAA for the voting process.

Please send bios along with mention of which position you are running for to jet@mi.mofa.go.jp by January 31. Voting will open in early February and will last for 2 weeks. Results will be announced shortly afterward and incoming officers will have approximately a month and a half to prepare for the transition with their predecessors.
